Points Applied
FAQ
## What is Points Applied?
Points Applied is a credit card portfolio management tool. It helps you track which cards you hold, when you opened them, what sign-up bonuses you've earned, and which benefits are coming up for renewal. It's designed for people who take rewards strategy seriously and want one organized view of their full card portfolio.
## Does Points Applied connect to my bank accounts?
No. Points Applied does not link to any bank accounts, credit card accounts, or financial institutions. You enter your card information manually. There is no Plaid integration, no credential storage, and no read access to your financial accounts. Your data stays private by design.
## What information do I enter?
You enter the cards you hold or have held, along with details like:
- Card name and issuer
- Application and approval date
- Sign-up bonus amount and whether you earned it
- Annual fee
- Any notes you want to keep
The app uses that information to calculate metrics like your Chase 5/24 status, lifetime sign-up bonus value, and upcoming annual fee windows.
## Is my data secure?
Yes. Your data is stored in a secure database hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Authentication is handled by Clerk, a dedicated identity provider. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
## Is Points Applied free?
Points Applied is currently free to use. We may introduce optional premium features in the future, but core portfolio tracking will remain accessible.
## Which cards can I track?
You can track any credit card — all major issuers (Chase, Amex, Citi, Capital One, Bilt, etc.) are included in the card catalog. You can also add custom cards manually for cards not in the catalog, such as credit union cards or niche co-branded cards.
## How does the Chase 5/24 calculation work?
Points Applied counts personal credit card accounts opened in the past 24 months based on the approval dates you've entered. Cards that generally don't count toward 5/24 (most business cards, charge cards) are excluded from the count. The calculation is based on what you've entered — it doesn't pull from your credit report.
## Can I track closed cards?
Yes. You can mark cards as closed and keep them in your portfolio history. This is useful for tracking lifetime sign-up bonus value, understanding your issuer history for eligibility rules, and maintaining an accurate 5/24 count.
## What browsers are supported?
Points Applied works in all modern browsers — Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. No app download is required.
